Profile

Lee Kemp was born in Hertfordshire on May 16 1976. Born to Derek and Wendy Kemp, he has a Sister Michelle, and is father to his beloved Daugther, Summer Olivia Kemp.

Lee is an Area Manager for a dental company and currently lives on the outskirts of Hertfordshire.

Brought up into a motor racing background, his father Derek Kemp has been involved in the industry for over 35 years so it was inevitable that Lee would follow in his fathers footsteps.

Lee started karting at the tender age of 8 with a kart built by his father. At the age of 14 he was bought his first kart at the cost of just £40 which encluded the engine and spare parts!

Lee started racing competitively whilst still at school, finishing 4th in a Club Championship.

Progressing up to the 100CC Kimbolton and Rye House Championship with a Wright Kart saw Lee score several rookie race wins, which netted him 3rd in the championship, before moving up to the Senior TKM Series as a works driver for Kartpro Stratus. Lee left the team after 3 races to switch to a Kestral Chassis to compete the rest of the season with good results.

Over the years, Lee has competed in many Prokart Endurance races both indoor and outdoor winning many of them and also constantly breaking lap records as he went. Unfortunately, a huge accident in 1999 put Lee in hospital and could have effectively ended his racing career.

Lee made a brief comeback in 2002 with appearances at Buckmore Park, Rye House and Whilton Mill with some success. More recently he was invited to test an MG Touring type car at Snetterton at the end of 2007. He excelled in his outing and was offered a drive but opted instead for a full season in the competitive Club100 Sprint Championship for 2008.

Lee soon got on the pace and started to turn afew heads with his ability to outbrake and overtake. He also showed that he could adapt and showed very well in wet weather conditions.

Lee finished 3rd in the championship at the end of 2008. He also attracted the attention of endurance teams, driving for first HB Racing and Team Senna before being recruited by the crack Target Racing team for 2009.

At the end of 2008 Lee was invited as a guest to race at the Jonny Herbert Karting Challenge. He was racing against many top names from the Karting and Motorsport world, as well as many top celebrites.

More recently Lee competed at the Daytona Raceway circuit in Milton Keynes with the pit crews from many Formula 1 teams such as Red Bull, Brawn and many others.

Lee is now completing a full seson in the Club100 series, using 115cc 2 stroke karts made by Birel. In the ultra competitive championship where many ex- MSA champions race, Lee is currently leading the championship with a very impressive 4 out the last 6 races won by him!
